New HD Freesat receiver from TechniSat!
Introducing the HDFS from TechniSat, a high-end, fully-featured High Definition & Digital Freesat receiver. The receiver includes front and rear USB 2.0 ports, media card reader accepting SD/MS/MMC & Compact Flash, Ethernet port, full scrolling VFD display, Dolby Digital, AutoInstall for easy installation, Extensive EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) and much more.
The HDFS also supports two operating modes - Freesat and TechniSat mode. The TechniSat (multi-satellite) mode allows users to choose various LNB types and turn on DiSEqC 1.2 for dish motorisation.
The HDFS is capable of playing music, pictures & movies from USB, card reader or from a PC via Ethernet wired LAN connection. Streaming from a PC can also be achieved wirelessly with the use of the TechniSat USB-WLAN antenna. Supported formats are MP3, JPEG or MPEG-2 (MP4 and DivX are expected to be added later).

Satellite manufacturer DUOLABS is set to release the QBOX HD, a high-definition, PVR-ready receiver. Features include 2 CI slots, 2 card readers, 3 Plug & Play tuner module inputs (supplied with 2x DVB-S2 and 1x DVB-T or DVB-C), Wi-Fi and a 2,2” TFT high definition display. Freesat HD PVR due later this year
Humax has revealed its new Freesat HDTV PVR receiver. Dubbed the FOXSAT-HDR, the SD/HD receiver is expected to be made available in December 2008. Features includes a dual tuner, 320GB HDD for
HD and SD channel recording, HDMI,
upscaling of SDTV to HD, optical output,
resolution support for: 1080i, 720p, 576p, 576i, 7 day full colour EPG,

New TechniSat SkyStar 2 HDTV software
New software has been released for the TechniSat SkyStar 2 series of USB boxes and PCI cards. The update includes a number of modifications:
- Added timeshift functionality
- Added HDTV support, that allows to playback DVD on W2K/XP too
- Added a basic IP streaming, that allows to stream the current TV channel into a LAN
- Added a new application called Timeline EPG, that shows the current running TV programs
- Added new pre-configurations for satellite based data services
- Added a new version of the DVBViewer TechniSat Edtion
- Implemented a new registry based method that allows ISP's to setup settings from within their client software installation process
- Modified the design/logos of the software
- Modified driver string, that are shown as TechniSat DVB-PC TV Star PCI or USB
- Modified installation routine
- Modified and extended manuals
The complete update totals 25MB including DVB viewer software - which can be downloaded from TechniSat's website (www.technisat.com). All previous SkyStar drivers should be removed before a new installation is performed.
Due to license agreements with Codec the software can not be distributed via other website pages. Only the software CD currently supports HDTV. The software CD will shortly be included with all new SkyStar 2 products sold by Cardmania UK. [02/11/04]
